Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College (SMAMC), Dhaka is a private, non‑government medical institution situated at Road No. 10, Sector 11, Uttara Model Town, Dhaka‑1230, Bangladesh.It is operated under the Shaheed Monsur Ali Trust and initially began as Ummah Medical College on 1st October in 1994‑95 before evolving into its current name.Affiliated with the University of Dhaka and recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) as well as listed with the World Health Organization (WHO)
Campus & Facilities:
Located on approximately 3 acres of urban campus near the Turag River, featuring modern infrastructure including spacious classrooms, lecture galleries, departmental museums, library with Wi‑Fi, separate hostels, cafeterias, and indoor/outdoor sports facilities.The college is adjacent to a 750‑bedded hospital offering 24/7 emergency, outdoor, and inpatient services.The academic building is a 7‑storey facility built on around 1.8 acres, comprising over 40,000 sq ft of floor space across college,hospital,and service blocks.
Academics & Programs:
Offers a 5-year MBBS program,followed by a 1-year compulsory internship.Covers pre‑clinical, basic medical,and clinical subjects including Anatomy,Physiology,Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Community & Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, etc.
Admission:
Admissions for Bangladeshi students are based on the DGHS‑conducted admission test and GPA from SSC & HSC; foreign students follow DGHS‑determined processes and are exempt from the written test.
Eligibility:
SSC + HSC combined GPA of at least 9.00, with a minimum of 3.50GPA in Biology in HSC.For foreign applicants with O/A levels, a DGHS-issued equivalency certificate is required .Authorized to admit up to 140 students per year.
